InnovaGo Booster, the intrapreneurship program that challenges the status quo and improve Michelin’s operational excellence

Present in 170 countries, Michelin is a leading tire company dedicated to enhancing its clients’ mobility, sustainably; designing and distributing the most suitable tires, services and solutions for its clients’ needs; providing digital services, maps and guides to help enrich trips and travels and make them unique experiences.

The challenge

For 90 years, Michelin fosters innovation among their employees to challenge the status quo and improve operational excellence.
To reinforce this innovation dynamic, the Digital Employee Team launches in 2018 the InnovaGo Booster’s program for the ten thousand employees of the Clermont-Ferrand area.
With this new program, the goal is to go beyond the ideation stage to accelerate the most innovative ideas and deliver value to the company.

The Framework

InnovaGo Booster’s intrapreneurship program gives a voice to those who act on the ground by releasing their creative and responsible energy in order to strengthen Michelin’s innovation momentum.

Playing an essential role in affirming their culture of innovation, the digital platform aims to put ideas into practice to contribute to the Group’s development and growth and thus inspire all employees to participate.

The involvement of top management and HRD, communication actions and the appointment of ambassadors within the different sites are key success factors of the program.

In the long run, the Digital Employee Team aims to deploy the digital solution at international level and foster the 110.000 employees of the Michelin’s Group to participate.

The collaboration with Yumana

Beginning of 2019, a first batch of 5 ideas were selected for acceleration.
To help intrapreneurs to build their prototype, each project leader creates on the platform missions to perform and identify the required skills. The platform matches missions and profiles to build successful taskforces.

With Yumana’s digital solution, Michelin could:

  • Highlight the most innovative ideas among the 60,000 proposed
  • Engage employees to give their time to make projects a reality
  • Build coherent taskforces with the right skillset

MICHELIN wanted to strengthen its innovation momentum by adding a collective focus.
